BIRTHS...
1971 - Russell Norris
The local lad, from Hoo, progressed through the ranks here at Priestfield Stadium after signing schoolboy forms in March 1985.
He signed as a professional in in July 1989 and was given his debut by Damien Richardson the following month against Aldershot at home.
Russell, a right-back, made just seven appearances for the Gills but later played for Dartford, Barking, Tonbridge and Chatham.
1977 - Alan Pouton
After spells at hometown club Newcastle United and Oxford United as youngster, the midfielder played for York City and Grimsby Town before Andy Hessenthaler paid £30,000 to bring him to Gillingham in January 2004.
He made his debut away at Burnley in the FA Cup Fourth Round.
Having made 66 appearances in an injury hit spell at Priestfield, Pouton decided to retire in January 2007 but did later play again with Dover Athletic, Maidstone United and Sutton United.
Alan was also assistant-manager to Jay Saunders at Maidstone for a while but left in January 2012 following budget cuts.
