The Rainham lad had played for both Medway and Kent Schools plus Maidstone side CTE Colts and despite interest from elsewhere he joined Gillingham on apprentice forms in July 1974.
Despite being a regular at youth and reserve level Mark made just one first-team appearance away at Watford in September 1974.
After departing Priestfield Stadium he played for Sittingbourne and Faversham Town.
