BIRTHS...

1947 - Bill Brindley

The Nottingham-born right-back began his career at Forest in February 1964 where he not only made 16 appearancesbut also won England honours at both schoolboy and youth level.

A £5,000 fee took him across the Trent to County in May 1970 where he was to play 250 times before Gerry Summers brought him to Gillingham in the summer of 1976.

He made his debut against Reading on the opening day of the 1976-77 campaign and scored in a 2-2 draw.

After being a regular at the start of the season, playing in 23 games, he lost his place in December and added just one further appearance as a substitute before moving to Grantham in July 1977.

Bill then played for Burton Albion and Alfreton Town before holding managerial posts at Meadows Albion, Boston, Heanor Town, Ilkeston Town and Arnold Town.

Unfortunately Bill lost a long battle with illness and died in April 2007.
