BIRTHS...

1975- Paul Watson

The full-back had been with Southampton and Bexhill Town before coming to Priestfield as a trainee in July 1991.

He signed professional terms in December 1992 and made his debut at Hereford United in March 1993.

After four years at the club, in which he made 79 appearances and scored twice, a £13,000 transfer took him to Fulham during the summer of 1996.

Then, after three years at Brentford, he moved to Brighton and Hove Albion, where he was to make 221 appearances.

Following a spell at Coventry, Paul played for a number of non-league clubs but has since rejoined Brighton as an assistant physiotherapist having studied part-time at Brunel University.

1979- Gary Wales

The Scottish striker played for Hamilton Academicals and Hearts before enjoying his first spell in English football on loan at Walsall.

He signed for Gillingham in March 2004 and made his debut as a second-half substitute for Mamady Sidibe at West Ham.

Gary only made six league appearances, scoring one goal against Coventry City, during his time at Priestfield before moving to Kilmarnock in the summer of 2004.

After a spell in Australia playing for both Richmond SC and Green Gully SC he later returned to Raith Rovers but I believe he is currently without a club.

DEATHS...

1991 - Albert Brallisford

The former Southport and Blackpool centre-forward joined the Gills from Darlington in October 1937 and made his debut at home to Walsall.

After netting four goals in 20 games over two seasons he signed for Glentoran in the summer of 1939.

He later returned to his native North-East and ended his playing days at Blackhall Colliery Welfare.

Albert died in Hartlepool on this day in 1991.
