Gillingham’s Academy Team at North West Kent College enjoy Algarve Tour
As the 2012/13 season came to a close the Gills Academy players at North West Kent College completed their training in preparation for a week-long trip to Portugal to take part in the Algarve Football Tour.The tour saw the Academy team play against Imortal Juniors and FC Ferreiras with both games taking place at FC Ferreiras home Stadium, Estadio Nora in Albufeira.
Nineteen Under-19 players made the trip to Portugal, which was organised by coaches; Jamie Coyle, Nick Bearham and Joe Foster, while the Algarve Football Tour itself was set up by Gary Thomas.
The Tour enabled the players to experience competing against players from different cultures and helped them to understand the traits of players from other countries, giving everyone who take part a broader insight into the styles and tactics of European Football.
