We catch up with some news of former players

Former Gillingham striker Mamady Sidibe has joined Tranmere Rovers League One promotion fight after signing from Stoke City on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 33-year-old Mali international, who made his Rovers debut last weekend, recently scored once in 10 games during a loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday.

Speaking to the Rovers club website about Sidibe's arrival, Moore said" He's the big target man I've been looking for and we have beaten quite a few teams to get him.

"He's an experienced striker who leads the line well. He will cause defenders problems and he will give us extra height defending set-pieces too.

"I think he can do a really good job for us at this level and he is a big signing for the club."

Josh Gowling nodded home promotion-chasing Kidderminster Harriers second goal in last Saturday’s 3-1 home Blue Square Premier victory over Alfreton. Danny Jackman was also in the Harriers side at Aggborough.

Former youth team striker George Purcell has made an instant impact at Ryman Premier League Margate with three goals in his first two games.

He made his ‘Gate debut last Saturday after leaving Tonbridge Angels and opened the scoring in a 2-1 home win over Hampton & Richmond and that was followed by both goals in Tuesday’s 2-0 triumph over Leiston at Hartsdown Park.

Meanwhile Rory Hill opened the scoring for Ryman League Division One South leaders Maidstone United on Tuesday in their 2-0 victory over Whitstable Town at the Gallagher Stadium.

That followed the Stones 3-1 win at Herne Bay at the weekend in which Michael Phillips had been on target with the equaliser.
