Gills defender Leon Legge has been nominated for the League Two Player of the Month award

Gills powerhouse centre-half Leon Legge has been rewarded for his recent commanding performances with a nomination for the npower League Two Player of the Month award for February.

The 27-year-old proved to be the perfect partner for skipper Adam Barrett in a Gillingham defence which conceded just three goals in six February fixtures. Commanding in the air, strong on the ground, Leon also scored the opening goal in the 2-1 win over Dagenham & Redbridge.

He faces competition for the trophy from Burton midfielder Jacques Maghoma, who scored four goals as the Brewers maintained their push for promotion, and Wycombe defender Dave Winfield whose impressive defensive displays have helped steer the Chairboys clear of the relegation places.

The winners will be announced on Friday 15th March 2013, with the final decision being made by the Player of the Month panel, npower Partnerships and Sponsorships Manager Katy Thomas, Wolves legend Don Goodman, BBC Sport’s Mark Clemmit and The Football League’s Head of Communications, John Nagle.
