BIRTHS...
1958 - Mick Buttress
Mick came through the ranks at Aston Villa, signing apprentice forms in July 1974 and then professional terms in February 1976.
He made his Villains debut against Liverpool in a 5-1 victory over Liverpool at Villa Park, the first of just three appearances.
In March 1978 he came to Gillingham as part of the £40,000 deal that saw Charlie Young also move to Priestfield and he made his debut against Preston at home.
Mick struggled to hold down a regular first-team spot and a year later, having played just seven times, he signed for Telford United.
