GILLS YOUTH 4-1 PORTSMOUTH

14 October 2013

Darren Hare reports on comfortable win for U18's at Beechings

Academy Manager Darren Hare praised the performance of his young team following Saturday's 4-1 win over Portsmouth.

Darren changed the shape of the side with Michael Freiter missing, and the alterations seemed to work as he explained:

“It was a decent performance; we ended up winning 4-1 so there were some good individual displays," he told the club's official website.

"Michael Freiter didn’t play so Josh Staunton pushed up in to midfield and it’s the first time I have played Mahlon Romeo and Charlie Webster in slightly wider areas and higher up the pitch.

“Both were very effective if I remember rightly.

“It was a decent performance and I even got two U16’s on the pitch in Olly Alexander and Dan Adams and they both did very well.”

Team: Nalder, Emptage, Dickinson, Bent, Leonard, Kilman, Staunton, Blanchard, Romeo, Webster, Sellens.

Goals: Romeo 2, Staunton, Blanchard Pen
