#FLASHBACKFRIDAY - OLDHAM

21 February 2014

We look back at some of our most recent matches against Saturday's opponents

Gillingham visit Boundary Park for the first time in nearly four years on Saturday afternoon and, as ever in our Flashback Friday feature, we've gone through the archives to pick out some of our best matches against the Latics.

Saturday November 14 2009 - Gillingham 1-0 Oldham

The score line from the game may not stand out as one of the most memorable, but in terms of the head to head statistics, it proved significant as it was the Gills first victory over Oldham in six matches.

Curtis Weston's penalty on the hour mark sealed all three points for Mark Stimson's side, with Febian Brandy playing just his second game for the club while on loan from Manchester United.

Saturday February 12 2000 - Oldham 1-3 Gillingham

You have to go back nine years before the Gills last registered a victory against Oldham, but for the travelling supporters it was a journey worth making.

Peter Taylor, in his first spell in charge, was able to celebrate victory with Ty Gooden, Barry Ashby and Rodney Rowe all scoring in a fantastic win for the Gills.

Saturday April 24 1999 - Oldham 1-4 Gillingham

Twelve months previously and the Gills were at it again, this time scoring four at Boundary Park with Carl Asaba, Paul Smith, Mick Galloway and Bob Taylor all on target.

The visitors had gone 3-0 ahead before Paul Beavers pulled one back before the interval, but Gillingham refused to allow their opponents back in to the game and scored a fourth with 12 minutes to go to seal the win.
