#FLASHBACKFRIDAY - BRENTFORD

24 January 2014

We look back at some of our best games against the Bees

Gills will perform in front of the Sky cameras on a Friday night for the second time in three weeks when they travel to Griffin Park to take on Brentford this evening.

As ever we have gone through the archives and picked out our best games against the Bees as part of our Flashback Friday feature.

Saturday March 28 2009 - Brentford 1-1 Gillingham

With Mark Stimson looking to guide his team back to League One at the first time of asking, a result against Brentford would have maintained aspirations of at least a play-off position.

David Hunt scored for the hosts four minutes before the interval, but just shy of the hour mark Simeon Jackson held his nerve to score from the penalty spot.

Gillingham went on to secure a point at Griffin Park, the third time in successive league matches they had done so at the venue.

Saturday March 31 2007 - Gillingham 2-1 Brentford

An early goal from former Gills loanee Jo Kuffour gave the visitors an early lead, but an Andrew Crofts equaliser followed by a late strike from Danny Jackman clinched maximum points.

This was the last time that Gillingham defeated Brentford, then under the management of Ronnie Jepson.

Tuesday March 21 2006 - Gillingham 3-2 Brentford

Amazingly the Gills sealed all three points despite finishing the game with nine men.

Alan Pouton and Sean Clohessy saw red in the second half, but thanks to a brace from Darren Byfield and an early goal from full back Brent Sancho, the hosts managed to hold out to give the fans something to shout about.

Michael Turner and Jay Tabb got the goals for Brentford, but the Gills back four remained solid for the last ten minutes to seal an impressive win.

Monday October 20 1980 - Brentford 3-3 Gillingham

Gills earned a point in a six goal classic at Griffin Park in the early stages of the 80/81 campaign.

Ken Price bagged two goals and Danny Westwood claimed one for himself in a thrilling encounter, watched by nearly 7,000 fans.
