PRITCHARD: PETER PIVOTAL TO GILLS MOVE

Gills new signing Josh Pritchard reveals Peter Taylor was a huge factor in deciding to join the club

Gills new signing Josh Pritchard says Peter Taylor was one of the main reasons why he decided to join the club.

The former Fulham and Man Utd midfielder signed a two year contract on Tuesday afternoon and he explained what he feels he can bring to the side.

Speaking to the club’s official website he said: “I’m very pleased, working with someone like Peter Taylor with the experience he’s got it’s given me a chance to play at a level which I haven’t done before so I’m very excited.

“He was one of my main reasons why I decided to take the leap over the M25 and down to Gillingham.

“My passing range is pretty decent and I have a never say die attitude. I work hard for the team and the odd occasion I might pop up with an important goal.”

Josh leaves Championship side Fulham after a five year stay but says he departs with fond memories.

He added: “Every day in training was always fun – maybe not the pre-season running but all the lads were great and the coaches knew what they were doing and they gave me a platform to build on.

“I then went away to Norway and Finland and played Football there and that was the process I went down to get to where I am now.

“At the time I went Martin Jol was the Manager and he was set with the players he had. I knew the Assistant Manager at Tromso from my time at Man Utd and he asked whether I wanted to go out.

“He said there might be a chance in the Europa League, we got in to the group stages and did well and it was a good experience. All in all I think it was the right decision.

“To play against the likes of Spurs and Besiktas it was a great experience and the right choice for my development as a footballer going forward.”

Pritchard began his career at Old Trafford with Manchester United, but said he had no regrets on moving to Fulham when he did.

He said: “I was playing every Sunday, training and having fun and we were lucky that we won most games and as you got older it got harder and more foreign players came in.

“When it came to scholarship years I moved on to Fulham because I could see what they were doing or trying to do and after the five years I was there they were one of the best academy’s in the country so I think it was the right move at the right time.”
