JAKE HESS: THIS IS JUST THE START

8 May 2014

Jake Hessenthaler says he is looking forward to next season already after bagging two awards at the Player of the Year event

Jake Hessenthaler says he is looking forward to the challenges that lay ahead after picking up two awards at the end of season awards dinner.

Jake won `Goal of the Season` for his spectacular effort against Coventry before winning `Young Player of the Year` just minutes later, and he’s delighted with how far he has come in the last year.

Speaking to the club website he said: “I never thought I would get one award let alone two from where I was at the start of the season.

“I’m absolutely over the moon, it’s been a great season and the boys have been fantastic and now we know who the Manager will be we can look forward and push on.”

Jake’s father Andy was in attendance on the evening, and the young midfielder said he is hoping to emulate the successes his Dad had.

He added: “It’s always a bit special when he’s here; I’m not too sure how many awards he has won over the years but it’s a great feeling and he’ s done a lot in his career.

“If I can achieve half of what he did then I’d be delighted. I’ve started getting there, but there’s a long way to go and I want to push on more.

“This is just the start, it’s been a good start but there are plenty more years I’m looking forward to and picking up more trophies. I want to be in the starting 11 every week – I want to improve and I’ve got a lot of it to do and I’m looking forward to every minute.”
