KEITH PEACOCK RETURNING TO PRIESTFIELD

1 May 2014

Former Manager Keith Peacock will be the club's legend for the day for our final match of the season against Shrewsbury

Gillingham FC is delighted to announce that former Manager Keith Peacock will be returning to MEMS Priestfield Stadium this Saturday as our legend for the day.

Peacock spent six years in charge of the Gills between July 1981 and December 1987, implementing an entertaining style of Football and bringing through a talented set of players that adhered him to the supporters.

Sadly promotion eluded the team during his tenure, however Peacock came incredibly close to achieving second division Football when Swindon won a nail biting three legged play-off Final in 1987 to deprive the Gills of their goal.

Keith made a host of top quality signings, including Tony Cascarino and Terry Cochrane who both played an integral part in showcasing some of the best Football seen at Priestfield.

After leaving the club he went on to manage Maidstone before returning to Charlton where he spent the entirety of his domestic playing career.

He remains at the Valley as a Football advisor having also been Alan Curbishley’s Assistant Manager, and having a spell as caretaker boss in January 2011.

In his 370 matches in charge at Gillingham he won 161, drew 90 and lost 199. This gives him a win ratio of 43.51, one of the best all-time records of any Manager at the club.

I’m sure you will give Keith a warm welcome as he walks on to the Priestfield turf before kick-off, and you can be in the stands greeting him back by booking your tickets for our final match of the season against Shrewsbury by clicking the box below.
