FLEETWOOD V GILLINGHAM FC: MATCH PREVIEW

31 October 2014

We look ahead to Saturday's Sky Bet League One fixture against Fleetwood at Highbury Stadium

FLEETWOOD V GILLINGHAM
Sky Bet League One
Highbury Stadium
Saturday November 1
Kick-Off, 3pm

Team News:

Peter Taylor could welcome back Doug Loft for the long trip to Fleetwood. The Gills skipper has served his three match ban for his sending off against Scunthorpe and so is available for selection once again depending on his fitness.

Aaron Morris (hamstring) is definitely out while Josh Pritchard (hamstring) and Kortney Hause (knee) could both be in line to feature following respective injury problems.

Callum Davies should be fine to make the squad, however Amine Linganzi will miss out.

Fleetwood could include new signing Tom Hitchcock into their starting XI – the striker spent time with Rotherham last season and scored a hat-trick for the Millers during their 4-3 win at Priestfield.

Steven Schumacher and Jamie Proctor are both suspended for Fleetwood following their fifth bookings of the season respectively against Preston.

Stewart Murdoch will be unavailable having joined Northampton Town on-loan until January, while Liam McAlinden has returned to Wolves after being recalled.

David Ball missed the game at Deepdale and could sit this one out too following a knock sustained at MK Dons.

Jamille Matt is a long term absentee.

Manager Comments:

Peter Taylor said: “We know they’re unbeaten at home and we know we haven’t won away but that’s where Football is crazy sometimes and that’s the target we’ll be setting ourselves in trying to get that first win.”

Fleetwood boss Graham Alexander added: “There’s been a great atmosphere at every home game this season and the supporters have played their part in helping us over the line.

“They keep our players focused and at it and everyone needs their support. It’s a great feeling when you can turn good performances into good results.”

Previous Meetings:

The clubs have only met on two previous occasions, and both have resulted in 2-2 draws.

The last of which coming at Highbury on March 30, 2013 when goals from Danny Kedwell and Charlie Allen earned the Gills a point en route to the League Two title.

Highlights of that game can be seen here.
