GILLINGHAM FC V FLEETWOOD TOWN: MATCH PREVIEW

2 April 2015

We bring you the team news, manager comments and latest odds as Gills prepare to welcome Fleetwood to Priestfield

GILLINGHAM V FLEETWOOD
Sky Bet League One
MEMS Priestfield Stadium
Friday April 3
Kick-Off, 3pm

Team News:

Joe Martin (hamstring) will not be fit for at least another 10 days so Amari’i Bell is likely to continue at left back. Doug Loft (calf) and Jake Hessenthaler (illness) should be fine to play.

As for Fleetwood, Jamille Matt and Danny Andrew are long term absentees and so will not feature this weekend.

Jeff Hughes is also unlikely to play with defender Conor McLaughlin suspended.

Nick Haughton and Stephen Jordan could retain their place in the starting XI after performing well during the club’s recent draw against Preston.

Manager Comments:

Justin Edinburgh – “They’ve had a lot of success and continued that momentum whatever league they’ve been in and they’ve been comfortable this season and have always probably been looking up rather than down.

“It’s not going to be an easy ride but what we have got to do, and what I’ll be saying to the players, it’s about us and we’ve got to do what we are good at.”

Justin's pre match interview in full can be seen here

Graham Alexander – “It was my first away game in charge of Fleetwood as well, and I think it was a very good performance against an eventual promotion winning team.

“If we go down there and produce another performance like that, then I think the result will follow, but it is two different teams now in personnel.

“The players are looking forward to going to a place like this and pitting their wits against a good team, and we’re going down there to get a positive result.”

Previous Meetings:

The clubs met in the reverse league fixture in November when a third minute goal from Tom Hitchcock proved decisive as the hosts ran out 1-0 winners at Highbury.

In total the teams have only ever met three times – the two previous games resulting in 2-2 draws in Gills League Two title winning campaign.

Betting:

Gillingham Win – 6/4
Fleetwood Win – 9/5
Draw – 9/4

Special Bet: Luke Norris to score first in a 3-1 Gillingham win – 105/1.
