REIGNING CHAMPIONS THOUGH TO HTSO SF

4 March 2016

Reigning Champions, Featherby Junior School are through to the Semi-finals of this seasons Lawtech HTSO Competition.

Last Saturday we were pleased to welcome reigning HTSO Champions, Featherby Junior School and Byron Primary School to the MEMS Priestfield Stadium to take part in the first Quarter-final fixture of this season’s competition.

The players had seven seconds to score from the edge of the D and could choose to dribble and shoot or simply fire one at goal. The keepers were allowed to move off their line as soon as the whistle sounded and put the striker under pressure meaning that they both had to think and act fast.

With this being the first of the quarter-final fixtures, it was clear to see that all the young footballers involved were feeling the pressure as they arrived at the stadium.

Once the rules of the competition had been explained to the two teams, the squads took their seats in the lower Medway stand, eagerly awaiting the half-time whistle so they could have their opportunity to score a goal in front of the Priestfield faithful. As the whistle blew for half-time, the two teams made their way on to the pitch for a brief warm-up before lining up in front of the Rainham End to await their turn.

Featherby got off to a fantastic start, converting their opening spot kick and instantly gaining the upper hand on their opponents. This theme continued throughout the tie with all five of the Featherby penalty takers scoring and their keeper pulling of some amazing saves to keep a clean sheet!

Congratulations to Featherby who after a dominating performance are through to the Semi-finals of the competition. Thank you to Byron Primary School for their hard work and effort in the Shoot-out and for all their support throughout the season.

The Half-Time Shoot-Out will return on the March 12, when Minterne Community Junior School take on St William of Perth Catholic Primary School for their chance to secure the second spot in the semi-finals of the competition.
