TEAM NEWS

by players returning from injury. continues to be strengthenedManager Justin Edinburgh has selection decisions to make ahead of Wednesday’s game, as the Gills squad

having recovered from a hamstring injury, while AFC Bournemouth loanee Baily Cargill’s nasty head cut picked up in the same game is not expected to sideline him for this replay.victory over Northampton TownBradley Dack played the final third of Saturday’s 2-1 Sky Bet League One

Scott Wagstaff and Bradley Garmston were also named on Saturday’s bench following their return from injury.

“We’re in a better position than we were going into the first game,” said Edinburgh. “We didn’t pick up any knocks on Saturday, and it was the first time this season that I’ve had to really think about who I put on the bench. That gives us more options, more flexibility. We’re getting competitive [in terms of team selection].”

THE OPPOSITION

Town enter the game off the back of a 3-2 victory against Boston United on Saturday, a result that maintained their unbeaten away record this season.

Striker Steve Diggin scored hat-trick as Kevin Wilkin’s side raced into a 3-0 lead at half-time, but defended well late on after the hosts scored twice after the break to set up a nervy finale.

Wilkin’s side also came through the game with a clean bill of health, meaning he is optimistic about Town’s chances.

“We have good players in this team and some experience to call on,” he said. ”If we can play at the level we are capable of and put in a shift, then we will give a good account of ourselves on Wednesday.”

LAST TIME WE MET

.Town’s shock 2-0 leadThis replay follows the initial tie at the MEMS Priestfield Stadium on November 5, as Frank Nouble’s quick-fire double - his first since rejoining the Gills in October - cancelled out

The two clubs met at the same stage of the 2013 competition, and Town midfielder Glenn Walker’s 25-yard strike was the only goal in a televised replay at St James Park in a game that followed a 1-1 draw between the two sides at the MEMS Priestfield Stadium.

Because of Town's non-league status, the teams have only met three times in total, with the Gills drawing two and losing one.
