Peter Taylor welcomes back skipper Lee Martin for Blackburn test.

BLACKBURN ROVERS V GILLINGHAM

Sky Bet League 1

Ewood Park

Saturday September 30

Kick-Off, 3pm

Team News:

Billy Bingham (concussion) is a major doubt for the weekend with his condition still being assessed. Conor Wilkinson (dead leg) has travelled but is unlikely to start. Scott Wagstaff and Bradley Garmston (calf) are absentees as is Tom Eaves who serves the second of a four match suspension.

Luke O’Neill (hamstring) will also sit out.

Lee Martin returns from suspension however and could go straight into the starting line-up.

As for Blackburn they could be boosted with the return of Rakeem Harper (hip), Ben Gladwin (thigh), Craig Conway (hip) and Scott Wharton (ankle).

Darragh Leninhan (foot) therefore is the only definite absentee for Rovers.

Management Comments:

Tony Mowbray – "We have to understand what it takes to win each game. We have to be resilient and hard to play against, but there are other days where we really have to expand, to play wide, to play two strikers, and ask questions of other teams.

"So it is getting the balance each week of how we are going to set up, how we are going to try to get the victory."

Peter Taylor - "Blackburn are one of the favourites and will be looking to get back in the Championship; it will be a tough game but I want the boys to look forward to it, match the opponents as much as possible and enjoy the day."

We’ve met before:

The two teams will meet for the first time in any competition since August 2009 when Blackburn left MEMS Priestfield Stadium with a 3-1 win in the Carling Cup.

David Dunn, Junior Hoilett and Morten Gamst Pedersen got the goals for the visitors with Simeon Jackson grabbing what turned out to be a consolation via the penalty spot.

In total the clubs have only met on nine occasions, Gills winning just once compared to Blackburn’s five victories.

Odds:

Blackburn win – 2/5

Draw – 19/5

Gillingham win – 13/2

Special bet: Lee Martin to score first in a 2-1 Gills win – 280/1.
