GILLINGHAM V CHARLTON ATHLETIC

SKY BET LEAGUE 1

MEMS PRIESTFIELD STADIUM

SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 16

KICK-OFF, 3PM

Team News:

Lee Martin serves the first of a three match ban following his sending off against AFC Wimbledon. Billy Bingham (concussion) will be assessed up until the last minute to see if he is fit to play. Bradley Garmston (calf) and Aaron Morris (knee) are definitely unavailable although Liam Nash (tonsillitis) will return.

As for Charlton Ben Reeves, Mark Marshall, Lewis Page and Harry Lennon will all be missing.

Management Comments:

Jamie Day – “Hopefully it will be a great atmosphere; the players need to show that desire. Every game is a massive and a derby adds some spice."

Karl Robinson - “Hopefully, we can achieve a result that the fans deserve. Obviously, selling out the tickets is superb and it’s a big area behind that goal. We’re going to be well supported so we’ll be looking forward to kicking towards their end and sending them back down the A2 very, very happy.

“There’s no better challenge than to go to Gillingham for a derby at the weekend.”

We’ve met before:

Last season Gillingham took one point from a possible six against the Addicks with a 1-1 draw being played out at MEMS Priestfield Stadium in October 2016 before losing 3-0 at the Valley in April.

Bradley Dack scored in the home tie but Gills were denied all three points at the death as Nicky Ajose converted a last gasp penalty.

In total the clubs have met on 30 occasions. However the Gills have only won on four occasions with Charlton winning 16.

Odds:

Gills Win – 13/5

Draw – 11/4

Charlton Win – 19/20

Special bet: Sean Clare to score first in a 2-1 Gills win – 120/1.
