ROCHDALE V GILLINGHAM

Sky Bet League 1

Spotland

Saturday September 23

Kick-off, 3pm

Team News:

Billy Bingham (concussion) should be available for selection after training this week but will be assessed up until kick-off. Lee Martin is definitely unavailable as he serves the second of a three match ban.

Bradley Garmston (calf) won’t be fit for at least another ten days while Aaron Morris (knee) continues to recover from his long-term injury.

Scott Wagstaff (calf) will be out for a few weeks.

Management Comments:

Jamie Day – “It is about proving people wrong and hopefully we do it, get the results and move up the table. The Charlton win will give the boys and the fans as well, a boost and a bit of confidence going into Rochdale.”

“We are pleased with Saturday’s performance; it was what was needed at this
time.”

Keith Hill – “Every game is an opportunity, no matter whether we’re playing top, middle or bottom of the league.

“We won’t treat Gillingham any differently to than we would do Blackburn etc, so it’s a good opportunity for us and it’s a good opportunity for the players, but again, we’re very respectful of the opposition.”

We’ve met before:

The teams last met at Spotland earlier this year where the hosts ran out convincing 4-1 winners with Gills being reduced to ten men in the second half with Zesh Rehman being the man dismissed on 59 minutes. Josh Parker had brought the scores level at 1-1 early in the first half.

In the reverse game Gills won 3-0 in November thanks to goals from Frank Nouble, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Mark Byrne.

In total the clubs have met on 44 occasions. Both sides have 14 wins each.

Odds:

Rochdale – 4/6

Draw – 29/10

Gills – 4/1

Special Bet: Tom Eaves to score first in a 1-0 Gills win – 55/1.
