First year pro earns awards from Medway African and Caribbean Association.

Gillingham FC is delighted to announce that Aaron Simpson has been awarded for his recent community work.

The 18-year-old left-back, who signed his first professional contract in the summer, was filmed recently by the BBC giving talks to local schools and helping to inspire young students.

Aaron has been at MEMS Priestfield Stadium since he was 13 years old and made his professional debut against Southend United in the Checkatrade Trophy in August 2017.

On earning his young black achievers award, given to him by the Medway African and Caribbean Association, Aaron said: “It’s important to me to go into schools because it shows me as a good role model and it gives younger people the hope they can go and do the same thing and hopefully gives them the ambition.”
