Elliott List returns for Gills as Steve Lovell's side travel to league leaders.

5 October 2018

Gills make the short trip to Portsmouth for next league fixture.

PORTSMOUTH V GILLINGHAM

Fratton Park

Sky Bet League 1

Saturday October 6

Kick-off, 3pm

Team News:

Regan Charles-Cook, Connor Ogilvie and Billy Bingham (all ankle) are likely to be missing for the Portsmouth fixture but Elliott List (back) returns for the visit to Fratton Park.

Bradley Garmston is fit after being substituted due to injury during last weekend’s 2-2 draw at Shrewsbury.

As for Portsmouth, Andre Green is absent while Dion Donohue will also sit out.

Manager Comments:

Steve Lovell – “I’m not going to sit back and soak up pressure because I don’t believe in that. We will attack, but we have to be mindful of them getting us on the counter and be secure at the back.

“The league doesn’t lie; they are on a good run and we are not on such a good run. If we put in a performance we will get a result.”

Kenny Jackett – “I’ve got a lot of time for their manager Steve Lovell. They’ll throw a lot of men forward and get people in the box – it’s a strong feature of what they do.

“We’ll have to adapt very quickly and will have to be ready for them because this is a big home game for us in the middle of quite a few away fixtures.”

Previous Meetings:

Gills return to Fratton Park just over a month after losing 4-0 in the opening fixture of the Checkatrade Trophy group stages.

Last season Gills won 3-1 at the venue with Conor Wilkinson and Lee Martin (2) finding the target. Earlier in the season Pompey left Priestfield with all three points after winning 1-0 in front of the Sky TV cameras.

Odds:

Portsmouth win – 1/2

Draw – 16/5

Gills win – 5/1

Special Bet: Tom Eaves to score first in a 2-2 draw – 105/1.
