Steve Evans has given his immediate reaction following the passing of former England and Leeds United player, Norman Hunter (1943-2020)

Gillingham Manager Steve Evans has written his own personal tribute following the passing of former England and Leeds United player, Norman Hunter.

"I am absolutely devastated to learn of the passing of Norman Hunter, a man who was very good to me during my time as Manager of Leeds United.

"He became a very loyal and true friend and was always there for a chat when needed. Most importantly he was a former Rotherham United Manager too and he was brilliant to me personally, alongside the other legends Eddie Gray and Peter Lorimer. Great men.

"My thoughts and condolences are naturally with his family and friends at this very difficult time.

"He will be very much missed by everyone at Elland Road and football fans worldwide because he was a great footballer, knowledgeable, understanding, and honest."

RIP my friend
