Mellis agrees deadline day deal.
Jacob Mellis has signed for Southend United on a deal until the end of the season, with the option of a further year.
The 30-year-old midfielder, formerly of Bolton and Barnsley, signed for Gills in the summer and played ten times in all competitions, scoring one goal in the process.
He could make his debut for the Seasiders at home to Walsall this weekend in Sky Bet League Two.
