Clark | "I believe in this team"

Confidence is high, says Max Clark.

A fired-up Max Clark said it is 'time to deliver' for Gillingham Football Club as the team sit on the cusp of the play-off spots.

The Gills, only kept out of the coveted top seven places on goal difference, have been scrapping and battling for every point of late and Clark has called on his teammates to keep racking up the points.

"I believe in this team," said the Gills warhorse ahead of this weekend's away fixture with Newport. "The play-offs are going to go down to the wire but we are confident. We will go into the game on Saturday to try and get three points. We have said amongst the group that we can't waste time. We feel like we have players in the team who can bring the game to them.

"We have the players out there in the squad to go on and score goals. We back ourselves to score goals and win football games. Over the last two games you can see the togetherness in this team, we all back each other on the pitch. We are playing with confidence and hopefully that will carry on.

"We have a group now who believe in each other. We have no time to waste now, we need to start picking up points. At this time of the season games are running out and we need to make sure that we keep picking up the points to keep us up there.

"There will be some teams who go on a run and I don't see why that can't be us. With the squad we have I don't see why we can't push on and this is the time to push on and pick up the points. There is no time for talking any more, it's time to deliver.

"Newport are a hard team to play every year, they are a solid team who have hit a good bit of form. But we are focused only on us, it's all about us. Whatever they do is down to them. All we are going to do is put our stance on them and go there to get three points."
