Preview | Harrogate Town v Gillingham

Gills make the long trip to North Yorkshire to take on Harrogate.

The Gills make the trip to Yorkshire to face Harrogate Town in yet another crucial game that could potentially make or break their Play-Off hopes.

Having played out a 0-0 stalemate against Crewe Alexandra at Priestfield on Good Friday, Stephen Clemence and his Gills will be fully aware that three massive points on the road at the Envirovent Stadium could be the difference come April 27.

Results elsewhere across the Bank Holiday weekend have meant that the Gills come into this fixture occupying 7th place in the Sky Bet League Two table.

Monday 1st April

Kick-Off, 3pm

Team News:

There were no new injury concerns following the game against Crewe at Priestfield.

Long-term injuries to Dom Jefferies (Thigh) and Jorge Hurtado (Knee) mean that both players will continue to be unavailable for selection in Stephen Clemence’s squad at Harrogate.

As for the hosts, Town boss Simon Weaver will likely be without the services of Lewis Thomas, Sam Folarin and Liam Gibson as all three players continue to recover from various respective injuries.

Manager Comments:

Stephen Clemence - "Simon Weaver [Harrogate boss] is a good guy and has done a very good job at Harrogate. I am looking forward to seeing him, but I will be going there to try and beat him. It is a game that we should all be looking forward to.

"This is where you want to be at this stage of the season. You are competing to do something for your team, so the boys should be looking forward to the game on Monday.

"I will have to look at Harrogate and see how they are going to play. They have changed their systems this season, playing a back four and a back three. I will have a look at that and see how the game will end up looking."

Previous Meeting:

Gillingham last met Harrogate when they travelled to Priestfield back in September 2023 for the reverse fixture of the current campaign.

In an afternoon that had looked destined to end in a 0-0 draw, as the two evenly matched teams struggled to break each other down, it was a late Shaun Williams winner in the 94th minute that gave the Gills all three points in front of the home support. 1-0 to Gillingham.

Head-to-Head:

Harrogate Town – 1

Draw – 1

Gillingham – 1

Having only faced each other on three previous occasions, there is not much history between the two clubs on which to look back on.

The Gills welcomed Harrogate to Priestfield back in August 2022 for a first ever meeting, the visitors that day claiming all three points through a 0-2 win.
