BIRTHS...

1900 - Fred Ellis
Fred joined from home-town club Sheppey United in June 1925 and made the first of his 108 league appearances against Millwall four months later. In the summer of 1931 he moved to Watford


1933 - Bill Grant
The Scot, previously with Brechin City, joined the Gills in August 1956 but due to the form of others, made just one first-team appearance at Lincoln City in the October.


1945 - Bob Moffatt
Bob was signed by Gillingham manager Freddie Cox from his previous club Portsmouth in May 1965.

He made his first-team debut at Scunthorpe United in September and in total made 24 appearances in three seasons at Priestfield.

Following spells at Margate and Chelmsford City he moved to the USA with Dallas Tornado in 1970.


1983 - Jones Awuah
The striker came through the ranks at Priestfield and made his debut as a 73rd minute substitute for Guy Ipoua against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground in September 2002.

He made just four appearances, totalling 106 minutes of action, before embarking on a personal tour of non-league clubs, the current one being Ryman Division One South Burgess Hill Town.
