WEEKEND BETTING PREVIEW

5 April 2014

We preview some of the weekend's action in the Sky Bet Football League

As the season enters its final few weeks, things are really hotting up in the Sky Bet Football League and we preview the weekend’s action by giving you the best odds from games across all three divisions.

Middlesbrough v Derby

Derby will be looking for another vital three points to help ensure they can grab a play-off spot.

Steve McClaren’s men will take confidence from their recent 3-0 win against Charlton and go in to their away fixture with Boro in 4th position.

They are 10 points shy of second placed Burnley, but are just one behind QPR who are in third place.

Of the four teams currently in the play-off spots, Derby’s away form is the best and they will be hoping to take advantage of an inconsistent Middlesbrough team who are currently 13th.

Derby Win – 6/4

QPR Vs Bournemouth:

Both teams are unbeaten in their last three league games and both have all to play for.

QPR however may see this as their last chance to exert some pressure on Burnley who remain favourites to clinch the second automatic promotion place with Leicester City.

Harry Redknapp’s team have a decent record at Loftus Road, conceding just 14 in total – three of those against Burnley in early February.

QPR Win – 2/1

Bristol City v Preston

Steve Cotterill’s side have turned around their form in the last couple of months, losing just once in their last seven games which has propelled them away from the clutches of the relegation zone.

They gave Rotherham a good game at New York Stadium last weekend, and their momentum may just be enough to down a strong Preston team who look destined for a play-off position.

Bristol City Win – 9/4

Sheffield United v Leyton Orient

The hosts still haven’t given up hope on snatching a play-off position, and Leyton Orient may well have missed out on gaining automatic promotion to the Championship having won just once in their last six games.

With United in good form and Orient still looking to put Brentford under pressure, a share of the spoils is a real possibility in this one.

Draw – 21/10

Chesterfield v Newport County

League Two Chesterfield host Newport County in an important game for the home side, a victory will almost certainly give them a shout of winning the division, however a defeat may see them start to sweat as chasing sides look to overcome their points tally.

Newport County are virtually safe, they will feel they will need just one more point to get the magic 50 barrier and start to prepare for life next season.

However with the home side having more to play for, Chesterfield are favourites to take the win.

Chesterfield Win – 4/6

Rochdale v York:

A big game this one for both sides with Rochdale strong favourites to clinch automatic promotion from League Two, and York still looking to gate crash the play-offs.

Many may have this as a banker home win; however the visitors are unbeaten in ten and will undoubtedly carry more momentum going in to this one.

As realisation begins to set in that League One Football may be on the cards, Nigel Worthington’s men may see this as an opportunity to take a real scalp.

York Win – 16/5.

Six Fold Bet – 528/1.
