Ady Pennock's side will learn their first round opponents tomorrow

15 June 2017

Gillingham will find out who they will face in the first round of the Carabao Cup on Friday afternoon.

The draw is regionalised to reduce travelling time for supporters, with Ady Pennock’s side one of the unseeded teams in the south section.

Last season the club defeated Southend 3-1 at Roots Hall in the first round before being drawn away to Premier League side Watford.

The Hornets took the lead but Gills produced one of the shocks of the round to win 2-1 and book a mouth-watering tie against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane, however the quality of the hosts shone through, running out 5-0 winners.

First round ties for this year’s tournament will take place the week commencing August 7, with league fixtures announced next Wednesday morning.
