Callum Davies and Bradley Dack take part in the Walk my Walk event at Mote Park
Gillingham FC Community team recently visited Mote Park in Maidstone to show their support for Guide Dogs. We teamed up with The Kent FA to offer everyone who attended the opportunity to take part in some Blind Football activities, including a target competition. We had a large number of children and adults take part, with one lucky winner receiving a goody bag. Also in attendance were first team stars Callum Davies and Bradley Dack, who came along to support the event and join in with some of the activities on the day. They were both quick to volunteer for the Blind Football activities, and unsurprisingly scored high on the target competition.
The theme for the event was “Walk my Walk”, which materialised after a guide dog owner was overheard saying that she wished people could experience what it was like to live her life, if only just for a few minutes.
With that in mind there was a “Walk a While in my Shoes” simulation experience, with a circuit of everyday tasks that had to be completed blindfolded or wearing simspecs. Both Callum and Brad took part and took a lot from the experience.
The day proved a great success, and we were delighted we could get along to support such a worthwhile event.
