Archibald was a publican in Sheffield when he died on 17th October 1947 while visiting family.
After scoring twice in 17 games he left the following summer joining Castleford Town.
He joined the Gills in August 1920 from Birmingham and made his debut against Southampton at home.
The forward played for six different Football League sides, South Shields, Birmingham City, Gillingham, Arsenal, Lincoln City and Rotherham County.

After spells at Blackpool and Bradford City he made a brief return to Priestfield on trial in the summer of 2012 but subsequently re-joined Blue Square Premier Newport.
He made his debut at Watford the following month, the first of 105 appearances in which he netted 21 goals.
The former Newport County, Barry Town, Wigan Athletic and Blackpool (loan) midfielder joined the Gills on a free transfer in January 2005.

Kevin went on to play for a number of clubs and the Jamaican international side before joining current club Leyton Orient in September 2011.
The Charlton striker joined the Gills on loan in March 1998 and made his debut as a substitute for Mark Saunders against Preston at home and he went on to score four times in seven games.
1978 - Kevin Lisbie
Lars has played for 14 different clubs including Calgary Storm (Canada), Energie Cottbus II (Germany), Dundee United (Scotland), CFR Cluj (Romania), plus Rosenborg and he joined current club Valerenga (Norway) in January 2010.
The Canadian international played two games for the Gills on loan from Tottenham Hotspur in the 2003-04 campaign making his debut at Crystal Palace in February 2004.

He made 76 appearances for the Gills in his two spells and after declining the offer of a new contract in the summer he joined League Two rivals Dagenham & Redbridge
This came after a previous loan spell in 2007-08 when he made his debut at Hartlepool in March 2008.
The experienced midfielder, who'd previously made 455 appearances for Southend United, was finally signed from Oldham Athletic by boss Mark Stimson following a long pursuit in July 2009.
