McMillan, who was also on the books of Derbyshire CCC in his younger days, was eventually sacked after eight years in charge.

In January 1946 he returned to Derby County as manager and just four months into the job the Rams were lifting the FA Cup at Wembley beating Charlton Athletic 4-1 after extra-time.

He left Priestfield at the end of the 1921-22 season moving to Wolverhampton Wanderers and over the next few years played for the likes of Bradford City, Nottingham Forest and Clapton Orient.

His only two goals for the club, in 30 appearances, both came in the same game, a 2-2 home draw against Swindon Town in December 1921.

Winger McMillan played for both Derby County and Chelsea before joining the Gills in March 1921 making his debut in a 1-1 home draw with Watford.

1963 - Stuart McMillan

He played a season at Gravesend & Northfleet before becoming player-manager of their reserves for the 2002-03 campaign.

The one game he will be remembered for during his time at Priestfield came in the FA Cup Fourth Round tie against Peterborough United in January 1970 when he created four and scored the other in a 5-1 victory.
