BIRTHS...
1952 - Glenn Aitken
The left-back was still an amateur when he made his Gills debut against Mansfield Town in November 1972 and signed pro terms the following month.
After 25 appearances he joined then non-league Wimbledon and captained the team that won promotion to the Football League in 1977.
Glenn later played for Kent sides Maidstone United, Dartford, Chatham Town and Thanet United.
1971 - Neil Smith
The tough-tackling midfielder came through the ranks at Tottenham Hotspur before joining the Gills initially on loan in October 1991 before a £40,000 deal went through.
Neil went on to make more than 250 appearances for the club before moving to Fulham in July 1997 and the following season was in the squad that won the Division Two title under Kevin Keegan.
Smith later played at Woking for six years before taking managerial/coaching roles at Kingfield before moving on to the likes of Grays Athletic, Croydon Athletic, Lewes and currently Bromley.
1972 - Richard Carpenter
Born in Sheerness, 'Chippie' joined the Gills aged 12 and progressed through the ranks here at Priestfield signing professional terms in May 1991 seven months after scoring on his debut as a substitute against Wrexham.
After five goals in 141 appearances a £35,000 deal took him to Fulham in September 1996 and he later played for Cardiff City and Brighton & HA, winning promotion with each of them and has worked with the Sussex clubs Albion in the Community.
He recently returned to playing action with Ryman League Division One (South) Faversham Town.
1972 - Matt Joseph
Former Arsenal youngster Matt made just one appearance for the Gills in a 3-3 draw with Fulham in an Autoglass Trophy tie in December 1992.
He went on to make 442 league and cup appearances for Cambridge United and Leyton Orient plus two caps for Barbados and then dropped into non-league soccer with Canvey Island and Histon before retiring.
1982 - Ben Chorley
The Sidcup born defender was another to come through the ranks at Arsenal but joined the Gills on loan from MK Dons in October 2006 making his debut against Carlisle United.
He made 27 appearances in total for Gillingham and has since had a spell at Tranmere Rovers before joining current club Leyton Orient in June 2009.
1992 - Alex Brown
The young midfielder, who celebrates his 20th birthday today, made his first-team debut against Morecambe as a substitute for Jack Payne in the final game of the 2011-12 campaign.
