BIRTHS...

1893 - Arthur Dominy

Having previously scored 146 goals in 369 games for Southampton, the forward arrived at Gillingham from Everton in March 1928, aged 35, and made his debut at Brighton & HA.

He went on to score 17 goals, including a hat-trick against Norwich City, in 57 games before joining Clapton Orient in May 1929 and he later appeared occasionally for Newport (IoW).

Arthur managed the Saints during the war years of 1943 until early 1946 when Bill Dodgin was appointed.

1909 - Tommy Robinson

The forward joined the Gills from Northampton Town in the summer of 1936 and made his debut in the second game of the 1936-37 campaign away at Bournemouth.

In his one season with the Gills he scored 13 goals in 38 games before moving to Walsall in May 1937.

1910 - George Bond

The former Millwall centre-forward signed for the Gills from Northfleet in August 1935 and scored on his debut the following month in a 3-3 draw at Notts County.

He scored once more, in a total of nine appearances, before emigrating to Malta the following summer.

1942 - Charlie Crickmore

Charlie played for Hull Schoolboys and home-town club Hull City before moving to Bournemouth for £2,000 in June 1962.

The classy right winger joined Gillingham in June 1966 from the Cherries in an exchange deal that took left back David Stocks and forward Tommy Taylor in the opposite direction.
He made his Gills debut at Scunthorpe in August 1966, scoring in a 2-1 victory.

After 17 goals in 63 appearances, the last of which was a 2-1 home win over Oxford United in October 1967, Gillingham received a then club record fee of £20,000 from Rotherham United and he went on to play for Norwich City and Notts County before a knee injury ended his career while at Meadow Lane.
