BIRTHS...
1936 - Terry Matthews
Terry had played for Hackney Schoolboys, Middlesex Schoolboys, Tufnell Park, Edmonton and Queens United before joining West Ham United as a junior.
He scored on his Hammers debut in March 1956 albeit in a 4-1 defeat at Blasckburn Rovers.
After a successful spell at Aldershot the forward was brought to Priestfield Stadium by manager Freddie Cox in August 1962 and made his debut at Brentford.
In his one season with the Gills he made 12 appearances, scoring once in a 2-2 draw at Crewe.
After leaving Gillingham he played for Ashford Town before later managing Aveley, Tilbury and Basildon United.
