BIRTHS...
1911 - Thomas Brennan
The forward was signed from Brentford in August 1929 but he had to wait until April 1930 before making his debut at Watford, scoring the Gills consolation in a 4-1 defeat at Vicarage Road.
In all he made 16 appearances, scoring twice, before moving to Crystal Palace in December 1930.
1943 - Bill Brown
Born in Croydon, Bill played with both Southampton and Charlton Athletic as a youngster before dropping down to play non-league football.
He played for Romford, Chelmsford City and Bedford Town before former Eagles manager Basil Hayward paid £2000 to bring the centre-forward to Gillingham, his first signing for the club, in February 1966.
Just days after arriving a crowd of 3587 were at Priestfield to see him score a hat-trick in a 4-2 friendly victory over Ipswich Town, Brian Gibbs scored the other goal and four days later he made his Gills debut against Bournemouth, scoring in the 1-1 draw away at Dean Court.
After scoring 34 goals in 116 league and cup appearances for the Gills, Bill joined Portsmouth in June 1968 and later played for Brentford and Margate before returning to Bedford in February 1970.
Spells later followed at both Dunstable Town and Ford United.
