1898 - Tom Gilbey

Tom, who hailed from the North East joined the Gills from Darlington in August 1920.

He made his debut against Southampton as the club embarked on their first season in the Football League.

The centre-forward scored eight goals in 14 games.

1932 - Eric Phoenix

Gillingham manager Archie Clark signed the former Manchester United junior from Hastings United in July 1954.

He had to wait until the following April before making his debut against Colchester United at Priestfield.

After scoring twice in 17 appearances for the Gills he joined Exeter City in the summer of 1956 but returned to Kent with Dover Athletic a year later.
