Championship defender joins the Gills

Hull City defender Danny East has joined the Gills on loan for the rest of the season.

The 21-year-old can play in either full back position as well as in midfield and boosts Martin Allen’s options as the club prepare for four games in the space of 11 days.

Danny joined Hull in 2003 and progressed through the club’s youth system before making his debut in the 2-0 defeat to Macclesfield in the first round of the Capital One Cup in August 2011 at the KC Stadium.

He joined Northampton Town in August 2012 on an initial one-month loan deal, which was later extended to the start of January.

During this time East made 19 appearances for the Cobblers, including the 2-1 defeat to the Gills at Sixfields earlier in the season when he came on as a second half substitute.

Danny goes straight in to the squad for Saturday’s home match against Plymouth Argyle.
