League One leaders Bristol City have set up a JPT Southern Area Final against the Gills

Gillingham will play Bristol City in the Southern Area Final of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

The Robins beat Coventry City 2-0 at Ashton Gate on Wednesday night to set up a final against the Gills who beat Leyton Orient 1-0 at MEMS Priestfield Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The two teams have already met once this season in the FA Cup when City prevailed 2-1 at Priestfield in the opening round, and Steve Cotterill's men will travel to Kent for a second time on December 28 for our Sky Bet League One fixture.

And it has now been announced that Peter Taylor's men will be at home in the first leg of the Area Final, however a date for this game is to be confirmed.

The second leg at Ashton Gate is expected to be played the week commencing February 2, however this is dependent on FA Cup fourth round replay involvement.

Further details regarding dates, kick off times and tickets will be on the website in the coming days.
