Doug Loft convinced Gills have enough ability in the squad to produce an upturn in form

Gills skipper Doug Loft says he is adamant there is enough quality in the squad to start turning results around soon.

An early Tom Hitchcock strike on Saturday gave Fleetwood a 1-0 win at Highbury Stadium, but the returning Captain believes the players have the right attitude and their efforts will soon be rewarded.

He said: “At the end of the day we need to get off this losing run and I think we have enough in our squad and team to do that but we need to do it on the pitch.

“A lot of it is luck; we haven’t had a lot of it in front of goal. I think we’ve let the Manager down a bit to be honest.

“We are creating chances but I think we need to get a lot more balls in the box.

“There is nothing wrong with the boys’ attitude – everyone is disappointed and angry that we are not putting the wins together and there is no one more disappointed than the players.”
