Luke Norris bags a hat-trick as Gills defeat Peterborough 6-0 at Beechings

Gillingham's development side put in a fantastic display on Wednesday afternoon to defeat Peterborough United 6-0 in the Final Third league.

Luke Norris bagged a hat-trick with Greg Cundle, Antonio German and Brennan Dickenson also getting on the scoresheet in an emphatic result.

Norris opened the scoring with a left footed strike inside the penalty area, before finding the net with a more powerful effort shortly after from a similar angle.

Greg Cundle took advantage of a quickly taken free kick to give Gills a comfortable margin at the break.

Norris secured his treble with another clinical finish inside the area before German took advantage of a great cross from Dickenson to fire home.

And the winger rounded things off with a superb piece of control before tucking the ball away from close range.

The hosts had opportunities to increase their lead but were thwarted by the visiting keeper. However the Gills remained in control throughout the game and have now scored 12 times in their last two league fixtures.

Manager Justin Edinburgh was watching on from the sidelines.

Gills: Hadler, Romeo, McKain, Legge, Martin (M Dickenson 69), Pritchard (Emptage 69), Webster, Cundle (Freiter 46), B Dickenson, German, Norris.
