Gillingham have bolstered their attacking options ahead of Saturday's game with the signing of a Championship striker

Gillingham have clinched the signing of Millwall striker John Marquis on a one month emergency loan deal.

The 22-year-old finalised his move earlier this afternoon and is available for selection ahead of Saturday’s Sky Bet League One clash against Crewe at the Alexandra Stadium.

The forward has already had a loan spell away from the Den this season having enjoyed a stint with League Two Cheltenham.

While at Whaddon Road he played 16 times and scored twice, those goals coming against Oxford and Northampton respectively.

Ironically he had two separate loan stints with Northampton last season - while at Sixfields he featured on 14 occasions and scored twice.

John has enjoyed other short term spells at Staines Town, Portsmouth and Torquay United during his tenure with the Championship club. In total he has played in 53 games and scored six goals for Millwall.

Marquis has been given squad number 9 and is eligible up to, and including, the Gills home fixture against Sheffield United on February 7.
