Dobbs | "I think we did very well"

Dobbs

Logan Dobbs was delighted to make his first league start in Gillingham's 0-0 draw at Fleetwood Town on Saturday.

The 19-year-old was grateful to have been handed the responsibility of starting the game and held his own throughout against an established Fleetwood front line.

The central defender had plenty of experience to lean on around him, with the likes of Omar Beckles, Kadeem Harris and Robbie McKenzie in the side. Dobbs felt supported by everyone around him.

He also showed appreciation for the 336 supporters who made the long journey to Highbury Stadium, with their support willing the Gills on as they fought hard to come away with a point.

Making his full debut...

I loved it. Obviously, playing my first league game in front of 300+ Gills fans who travelled all the way. It was a great atmosphere here. I loved it.

I can't thank the Gaffer enough, especially for the opportunity, but I just want to show him what I can do. Show him that he can trust me.

I found out Friday morning... I tried not to think about it, to be honest. I watched some clips of them, and I tried to zone it out until the game. I am just buzzing to play.

Having a response following the Walsall defeat...

Throughout this whole week, we have been working on things. I think that we did very well here today on what we worked on. The Gaffer has been behind us all week and was really pushing us. I think that coming here, it's really important that we showed what we can do, especially for the fans - the over 300 Gills fans; they want to see a result having come all this way.

Relying on the experienced players around him...

They [Omar Beckles and Andy Smith] have hundreds of games of experience. Not only that, you have a midfield of Robbie [McKenzie], [James] Brophy and Kads [Kadeem Harris] before he came off. The whole team, especially for my debut, have all been around me, the Gaffer, everyone. It really helped.

On the travelling support...

I thought that there was more, to be honest. They were very loud and backed us the whole way. It is disappointing that we couldn't get the win for them, but I feel like they will be very happy with the performance.
