Freeman | "We have to take it on the chin"

Freeman

Nick Freeman admitted that Accrington Stanley were deserving of their victory as they beat Gillingham 3-1 on Saturday.

The Gills right wing-back acknowledged the solid form they have been on, but knows that they weren't at it on the day.

Freeman discussed the need for the group to reflect on what was a disappointing result, but knows that it is a great chance for the team to show their resilience with the quick turnaround to Tuesday's fixture with Port Vale at the MEMS Priestfield Stadium.

On the defeat...

It was really tough. Credit to Accrington; they were really good. They were physical, and they were technically really good. It's a tough place to come. We are confident that we can bounce back; it was just a really tough day.

We have been really good recently and been on really good form. We are an honest group, so I am sure that we will rally each other, and we will get behind each other and move on from this. That's football. You get those days where you are not at it. We weren't at it as a group today, individually, and as a collective.

Being reflective and moving forward...

We have to take it on the chin and react quickly, but also reflect on what we could have done better. Individually and as a collective. Iron it out quickly and move on to Tuesday.

You are always going to have a down day as a group. It is about our resilience to bounce back now on Tuesday. We are all level-headed. We know that we can put this one to bed and move on.

Looking towards Tuesday night...

I am sure that it will be a great atmosphere. It's my first Tuesday night there in a league game, so I am excited. Hopefully, we can bounce back.

If we can go and perform really well or get a result on Tuesday, then today is forgotten about. That is the beauty of it.

Think about what went wrong, but put it to bed, and move on and see how we can get a result for Port Vale at home on Tuesday.
