Hale | "Everyone is feeling brilliant"

Ronan

Ronan Hale was glad that he could get back amongst the goals as he scored a brace in Gillingham's 4-1 win at Rotherham United on Saturday.

The forward was pleased with the way in which the Gills stayed in the game after falling behind, and credited the adjustments that were made that allowed them to take control of the game in the second period. He was also delighted for Lamin Sillah and Tom Eaves to get themselves on the scoresheet.

Hale's first goal was a brilliant volley, and his second was an emphatic finish from the penalty spot. However, the Northern Ireland international only needed one chance to find the back of the net from open play, which he believes is all that a forward needs at times when in search of a goal.

The fixture list is now beginning to pile up, with four games in 11 days, and the 28-year-old knows that the squad will take it in their stride.

Thoughts on the win...

I thought that it was definitely a great second-half from us. Obviously, the first-half wasn't great, but once we got the first goal, it kind of bedded us back in. We then started doing things differently, which helped us.

It was brilliant. Three attackers got goals today, so long may it continue.

The atmosphere in the dressing room post-match...

Everyone is feeling brilliant. It was an away win that we were craving. We had that 3-0 defeat to York, and obviously everyone was down after that. The 0-0 last week meant that everyone knew that we had to put on a performance, and we did. 4-1 away from home- you will take that all day.

His two goals...

It was just one that I caught nice and sweet. I will take them all day if they come my way. I am happy with that.

I was happy with the penalty. We haven't had one this season, so the pressure was on. I love taking penalties, so hopefully, we get many more.

Sometimes that's what you need. If you are having too many chances and it is not going your way, then it can go the other way. Today, one chance and one goal, I would have taken that all day. I am grateful for it to happen.

The busy upcoming fixture schedule...

They are coming thick and fast, and we will take it in our stride. Obviously, we are doing well on the road. Sometimes we are good; sometimes the results haven't been in our favour. We will take it as it comes, and hopefully put on a good performance.
