Armani Little was frustrated at how Gillingham let the game get away from them again as they were beaten 4-1 by Grimsby Town at the MEMS Priestfield Stadium on Saturday.
The game was all square at one apiece until the 74th minute when Jaze Kabia took advantage of a defensive mix-up, and Grimsby went on to put the game away comfortably. Little was disappointed with how the Gills responded to going behind, especially when there was enough time to get a result out of the game, acknowledging how it has been too regular an occurrence this season, which needs addressing.
The Gills skipper also discussed how important being strong at home is and looked ahead to the final away trip of the season at Barnet next Saturday.
On another frustrating defeat and the need to be much better...
It probably just sums up our season, to be fair. Again, it looked like we were in the driving seat, taking the game to them, especially when we got the goal back. I thought that we were on top, and then, we switched off. To be fair to Glenn [Morris], how many games has he kept us in this season? There have been so many saves that he has made for us. When it goes 2-1, as a team, or as individuals, we have to get him out of that now. We don't do that enough for each other, and that is not good enough.
It needs addressing, and it is not good enough at all. When it goes to 2-1, we still have enough time to get back into the game, and we can't crumble. We absolutely crumbled today, especially with the goals. It is simple things that we're not doing, whether it is picking up or marking. Whatever it is, we have to be so much better.
The importance of being strong at home...
It is not the way that we want it to be, even the away form. If you want to do something in this league, if you don't win, you have to get your points away from home, then obviously, the home form is so important. We want to get this place rocking again and coming into every game with that atmosphere, and hopefully, we can do that going into next season.
The final away trip of the season...
I think that Barnet are in good form at the minute, and I think that they are still in the hunt for the play-offs, if I am right. We have to go there and try and ruin that for them, really, and try and get the three points if we can.
