Team News:
Gareth Ainsworth is expected to make changes for our first EFL Trophy fixture of the season. Taite Holtam, Jack Daley, Michael Luxton, Sully Booth and Harry Webster could all feature. Sheldon Kendall, who came off the bench to score a brace in the win against Bristol Rovers, will be pushing to start.
Neil Harris has confirmed that he will be involving some of Cambridge’s youth team players in Tuesday’s game. Gabriel Breeze and Dan Herd were unused substitutes in Cambridge’s weekend draw at Oxford and could be in line to start.

Gareth Ainsworth: “Some people need to start and need minutes. We do it all on a structured basis, and a plan that we want the best squad going up to York to take on a very impressive York team so far. We have to abide by the rules, so that will come into it as well.”
Neil Harris: “We are now in a tough moment with players being injured and players being away on international duty, and we have got to field two games in four days. We are backs to the wall in this, but that is when we come out fighting and are at our best.”
Previous Meetings:
Gills met Cambridge in the second round of the EFL Trophy in December 2020. The fixture was one of the rare events that allowed fans into a stadium during the 2020/21 season, with 724 in attendance for Cambridge’s 2-0 victory.
The game was goalless until 23 minutes from time. Jack Tucker timed his sliding challenge inside the penalty area wrong and brought down Idris El Mizouni. Paul Mullin took the spot kick and made no mistake, rifling his attempt into the roof of the top right corner.
Luke Hannant made it two 12 minutes later when he thundered a left-footed shot from 20 yards past a helpless Joe Walsh.
