Team News:

Richard Dobson is hopeful that Armani Little can play a part in Saturday’s fixture. The club captain has been out since suffering an injury in the draw at Bromley. Josh Andrews will be available for selection after his suspension.

Conor Masterson remains the only long-term absence with his calf injury. Euan Williams, Aaron Rowe, Jonny Smith and Garath McCleary will miss the trip to Blundell Park.

Grimsby’s Danny Rose and Jude Soonsup-Bell will be pushing for starting places after scoring in a reserve fixture in midweek. Jamie Walker, who came off the bench in the defeat to Colchester, could start.

Manager Comments:

David Artell - “They are a good team and have had a good start. It has all the hallmarks of a tough game, but it is one that we are looking forward to.

It will be a good game. A tough game. I think that it will be a battle of styles, but they are the ones that we look forward to.”

Richard Dobson - “They’re a good side. They’re at the top end of the league for a reason, and I watched their game against Manchester United in the cup earlier in the season and they were excellent. They thoroughly deserved their win. We have got to be aware of the threats that they pose. They have a really bright attacking front five.”

Previous Meetings:

Grimsby lead the head-to-head with 18 wins to Gillingham’s 12. The fixture has also seen 12 draws, with the most recent coming in January this year, when Gills travelled to Blundell Park.

Gills took the lead on 35 minutes when Doug Tharme sliced Jack Nolan’s cross from the right into the back of his own net. The visitors were inches away from adding a second when Tim Dieng’s header hit the foot of the post.

Despite defending valiantly in the closing stages of the game, the Gillingham resistance was broken at the death. Kieran Green’s low cross found Danny Rose at the front of the six-yard box, and the Grimsby forward managed to squeeze his shot past Glenn Morris at the near post.
