Rowe | "We are excited for next season"

Rowe

Aaron Rowe scored his first Gillingham goal in the 1-0 victory against Port Vale on the final day of the season.

The winger opened his account of the Football Club with a fine left-footed strike that found the top corner. He discussed the team's overall performance in what was an impressive win.

Rowe has impressed since Gareth Ainsworth took charge and spoke about life under the Gills manager and how belief can go a long way for a player.

Gillingham are on a 12-game unbeaten run, and the 24-year-old cannot wait to get back after what is a much-needed summer break as he looks ahead to the 2025/26 season.

On the team's performance...

I feel like our plan was to spoil their party, and I feel like we have done that, not just with the goal but also with the good performance that we put in and digging in at the end. It's been a very good performance.

His goal...

I've always said that I am better at shooting with my left foot than my right, even though I am right-footed. I know it was on the right, but I didn't think I was going to go on with it, so I cut in and went and had a go. Thankfully, it went in.

Working with Gareth Ainsworth...

He's definitely a great manager. I feel like he has changed my season. I wasn't playing much, but I was still believing in my ability. He has given me the chance to express myself, so I am forever thankful.

I feel that for every footballer they need a manager that will have your back. Once that happens, you give everything for that manager. Run for him, playing out of position, and you will do anything for that manager that believes in you.

It always starts with the manager because he sets the standard. It follows to the players. If you have that belief, you will run everywhere for him.

Looking towards next season...

Everyone is buzzing to get back. Obviously, we need our break, but I feel like we are excited for next season because I think we can do some stuff in this league.

I feel like we have a good chance to show what Gillingham is about.

Everyone needs the break because it is a long season, but I think the boys are buzzing to get back in and show the fans what we can do.
